If the light comes back afterwards, or while we are clearing it, that is not covered - it means a fault is still present. The £50 charge stands even if a permanently active code cannot be cleared, unless you choose our DTC Delete option.

If your MOT is coming up and your engine management light (EML) keeps coming on and going off again, we can come to you, read the stored fault codes with diagnostic equipment and clear them. An engine warning light that is on at the time of the test is an MOT failure, so it makes sense to deal with an intermittent light before the test rather than on the day.
We tell you which codes were stored and what they mean, so you know what has been triggering the light. Clearing codes does not repair a fault: if the fault behind a code is still present, the light will come back - sometimes straight away, sometimes days or weeks later. Intermittent codes that are not currently active are the ones that stay cleared.
Please read the terms below before booking. The charge covers our visit, the diagnostic read and the attempt to clear the codes, so it applies whether or not a code can be cleared. If you want a specific fault code removed from the calibration instead, that is our separate DTC Delete option.
These are mobile services - we come to you, so there is no need to bring the car to the workshop. A call-out fee applies depending on where you are: Leicester, the rest of Leicestershire, or elsewhere in the Midlands. You will see it on your price before you book, and further away we will confirm it with you first.
Our diagnostics find and explain faults; any repair or other work is always quoted separately and only done with your agreement. For the MOT warning light clear: if the light comes back later, or comes back while we are trying to clear it, that is not covered by the service - it means a fault is still present and needs looking at. The charge still stands if a code cannot be cleared because the fault is permanently active, unless you choose our DTC Delete option instead.
