How Stage 1 Eco compares with Stage 1

Full Stage 1 on this Renault Espace is expected to give 226bhp and 447Nm (+54bhp, +86Nm). The Stage 1 Eco keeps about 76% of that power gain and 92% of the torque gain, so you get 213bhp and 440Nm: 13bhp less and 7Nm less than Stage 1, with the map shaped for efficient, relaxed driving, so it suits you if you want the pull and care about running costs. Both sit above the standard 172bhp and 361Nm.

What this means for your Espace

Diesel remaps work mainly on boost pressure, fuel delivery and torque limiters, which is why the Nm gain is usually the figure you feel in everyday driving, particularly when overtaking or towing.

This car is listed with a Bosch EDC16C36 engine control unit. Older engine management is simpler to work with, but age matters: worn sensors, leaks and tired components can hold back what a remap delivers, which is why we run a diagnostic check first.
